BNV : যিহূদার লোকরা য়োশিযর পুত্র য়িহোযাহসকে জেরুশালেমে নতুন রাজা হিসেবে নির্বাচিত করলেন|
KJV : Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father’s stead in Jerusalem.

BNV : য়িহোযাকীম মাত্র 25 বছর বয়সে যিহূদার রাজা হয়ে এগারো বছর জেরুশালেমের রাজত্ব করেছিলেন| তিনি প্রভুর ইচ্ছা অনুসারে জীবনযাপনের পরিবর্তে তাঁর ঈশ্বরের বিরুদ্ধাচরণ করেছিলেন|

BNV : য়িহোযাকীম আর যা কিছু করেছিলেন তাঁর সমস্ত জঘন্য পাপাচরণের কথা ‘ইস্রাযেল ও যিহূদার রাজাদের ইতিহাস’ গ্রন্থে লিপিবদ্ধ আছে| য়িহোযাকীমের পর তাঁর জায়গায় তাঁর পুত্র য়িহোযাখীন নতুন রাজা হলেন|
KJV : Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they [are] written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.

ERVEN : In the spring, King Nebuchadnezzar sent some servants to get Jehoiachin. They brought Jehoiachin and some valuable treasures from the Lord's Temple to Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar chose Zedekiah to be the new king of Judah and Jerusalem. Zedekiah was one of Jehoiachin's relatives.

ERVEN : Zedekiah didn't do what the Lord wanted him to do. He sinned against the Lord. Jeremiah the prophet spoke messages from the Lord. But Zedekiah didn't humble himself and obey what Jeremiah said.

BNV : ইতিপূর্বে নবূখদ্নিত্‌সর সিদিকিযকে তাঁর অনুগত থাকতে বললেও সিদিকিয নবূখদ্নিত্‌সরের বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করলেন| তিনি ঈশ্বরের নামে শপথ করে বলেছিলেনযে তিনি নবূখদ্নিত্‌সরের অনুগত থাকবেন| কিন্তু শপথ করার পরেও তিনি তাঁর জীবনযাপনের রীতির কোনো পরিবর্তন করেন নি; এমনকি প্রভু, ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বরের নির্দেশ মেনেও চলতে রাজী হননি|

ERVEN : Zedekiah turned against King Nebuchadnezzar. In the past Nebuchadnezzar forced Zedekiah to make a promise to be faithful to him. Zedekiah used God's name and promised to be faithful to Nebuchadnezzar. But Zedekiah was stubborn and would not change his life. He refused to obey the Lord, the God of Israel.

KJV : Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people, transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house of the LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.

ERVEN : Also, all the leaders of the priests and the leaders of the people of Judah sinned worse and became more unfaithful to the Lord. They followed the evil example of the other nations. They ruined the Temple that the Lord had made holy in Jerusalem.

He didn't have mercy on the people of Judah and Jerusalem. The king of Babylon killed young and old people. He killed men and women. He killed sick and healthy people. God permitted Nebuchadnezzar to punish the people of Judah and Jerusalem.

ERVEN : Nebuchadnezzar and his army burned the Temple. They broke down Jerusalem's wall and burned all the houses that belonged to the king and his officials. They took or destroyed every valuable thing in Jerusalem.

ERVEN : Nebuchadnezzar took the people who were still alive back to Babylon and forced them to be slaves. They stayed in Babylon as slaves until the Persian kingdom defeated the kingdom of Babylon.

ERVEN : During the first year that Cyrus was king of Persia, the Lord caused Cyrus to make a special announcement. He did this so that what the Lord promised through Jeremiah the prophet would really happen. Cyrus sent messengers to every place in his kingdom. They carried this message:
